In this powerful monologue taken from the book Nel ventre by Sergio Claudio Perroni, Italian actor Stefano Panzeri tells us what really happened inside the belly of the Trojan Horse the night before the last, decisive battle. An impressive reflection on place, conflict and identity narrated in Italian and subtitled both in English and in Modern Greek which has been written by Crescent Arts Centre students in preceding workshops.  This event will be an opportunity to look inside “this maple beast with guts made of men” and after the performance to have a conversation with the actor, the translators and the audience.

Stefano Panzeri is an Italian theatre actor with a PhD in Iberian studies. Since 1997 he has been working as an actor/director both with national theatre companies and on self-produced projects. In 2006 he founded JOGIJO, an Italian-Portuguese-Catalan artistic ensemble dedicated to European, multi-language drama, as well as the youth theatre company PaneDentiTeatro in Perugia, Italy

In 2014 he got in touch with Terra Matta, the autobiography of Vincenzo Rabito, an illiterate Sicilian peasant: since then he’s dedicated most of his time to take Rabito’s story to the stage.

Since 2015 he’s been working on oltreOceano, a project of recollection and celebration of the Italian heritage and migratory memory through theatre and storytelling (the project has travelled to the UK, Germany, North and South America and Australia). In 2019 he started working on Nel ventre (In the belly) a monologue about the myth of the Horse of Troy.
