workshop
It may seem insulting or downright outrageous in the context of a Book Festival to even consider disassembling books…..but books can become damaged, many aren’t constructed to last into the next century, and recycling isn’t always an option due to the glue on the bindings. This workshop will be an interesting way to make use of any unwanted or damaged book as you turn a book into a garden. You will cut out the inner section of the book and line with plastic, making it a container to house succulent plants.
You will need to bring a thick book to class at least 6cm deep - the deeper the better, a craft knife, ruler and pencil. Plastic, soil and succulents will be supplied. So if you’d like to lovingly upcycle a book, then bring it with you to turn into something beautiful
