Date: Monday 08 June 2026
Time: 10.30 - 11.00
Venue: The Crescent
Price: Pay What You Decide - Event intended to be free
Book NowRhythm and Rhyme introduces children aged 0-4 years to nursery rhymes, actions and music. Join us for 30 minutes of fun led by a Libraries NI staff member. These sessions are all about encouraging speech, language and literacy skills.
Early childhood studies have shown that 90% of brain development occurs before a child reaches 5 years old so interaction, rhymes and reading to children from birth is vitally important.
During each 30 minute session, parents and carers interact with their children and this is crucial for the development of a child’s speech, language and literacy skills. The library member of staff will encourage and guide each parent to participate and this can also help parents and carers.
The Northern Ireland Library Authority, more commonly known as Libraries NI, is a regional body responsible for the provision and delivery of a public library service in Northern Ireland. Libraries NI is the largest single library authority in the UK. Their primary duty, as set down in the Libraries Act (Northern Ireland) 2008, is to provide a comprehensive and efficient public library service for persons living, working or studying in Northern Ireland.
Can't make Monday? Rhythm and Rhyme is also running on Wednesday 10 June 2.30 - 3.00pm. Click here for details.
