Starting your Substack newsletter with Seán Óg Ó Murchú

Using a new platform can feel daunting. But it’s also an opportunity to build an audience online, particularly for long-form work, or that newsletter you’ve been thinking about for months. 

In this workshop Seán will share his approach to building a profile and generating work, and will cover the following: 

• Using Substack to publish your work: How to navigate the platform; Where your work will land in the publishing landscape; Examples of successful/interesting Substacks; Benefits to writers; Creating and scheduling newsletters; Embedding audio-visual content; Sustaining a writing practice  
• Gaining subscribers and followers: Paid and unpaid subscribers; Generating income from Substack; Community discussions and comments; Analytics
• Social Media: Instagram; Tik Tok; Twitter – getting audiences to Substack to read your work; Engagement and Branding
• Into the real world (Writing doesn’t have to be lonely!) – Networking; Collaborations; The live circuit 

No experience required. Participants will be encouraged to share work and ideas, but equally this is a chance to simply listen and learn.
