BBC Writersroom is hosting a free event with award-winning novelist and BAFTA-nominee Glenn Patterson to discuss the challenges a novelist faces when writing for the screen or radio, including how to approach the different types of writing, choosing the best format for an idea, the key elements to consider, the art of adaptation, the practicalities and realities of being a scriptwriter and the process from treatment to first day of principal photography.
Glenn Patterson’s novels include Gull, The Mill for Grinding Old People Young and Burning Your Own (winner: Betty Trask Award and the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature). He co-wrote hit feature film Good Vibrations, as well as writing for The Frankenstein Chronicles and radio dramas for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4.
BBC Writersroom is a cross-genre department for scripted content within the BBC, who works with and develops new and experienced scriptwriters.
