Jessie Hewitson, award winning journalist at The Times, has written the book she wished she’d read when her son was first given the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism: Everything You Need To Know About Raising A Happy Autistic Child combines her own experiences with tips from autistic adults, other parents, autism professionals and academics.
She is joined by Laura James, author of Odd Girl Out, a book that asks the question, What do you do when you wake up in your mid-forties and realise you've been living a lie your whole life? Do you tell? Or do you keep it to yourself?
Laura found out that she was autistic as an adult, after she had forged a career for herself, married twice and raised four children. This book tracks the year of Laura's life after she receives a definitive diagnosis from her doctor.
The authors will talk about their own personal experiences, offer practical advice and explore two inspiring and enriching books that celebrate difference and champion happiness.
