Mairtín Crawford died on Sunday 11th of January, 2004. For 8 years Mairtín worked as a part time creative writing tutor at The Crescent and it is this period that many who read and followed his work regard as the most promising period of his career. These awards pay tribute to him.

The judging panel for The Mairtín Crawford Poetry Award is headed by Mairtín's friend and contemporary, renowned poet Moyra Donaldson, whilst Belfast novelist and short story writer Jan Carson has guest judged the first Mairtín Crawford Short Story Award.

Join us as the winners of each award will be announced, as well as a special prize donated by The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, a week long writing retreat to “The Most Promising Writer” across the two categories.
