We are delighted to welcome Q Radio’s Stephen Clements to the Belfast Book Festival 2018 to open this year’s festival. Join us for a breezy lunchtime chat as he looks back on the memories that shaped our childhoods.
Stephen is at the age now where the Topcat TV theme, the cover of a Ladybird book, the smell of dulse, or even simply the sound of his mum scolding him for not turning the kitchen light off can instantly take him back ... back to the good old days.'
Do you remember the slippery dip slide in Newcastle? What was your first car? Remember when Wham bars were as big as your hand? Stephen’s book, Back In Our Day, is a celebration of all those memories of growing up here in Northern Ireland in the 1970s and 1980s.
Born 1974 in Carrickfergus, Stephen now lives here with his wife and two children. At the age of 37 he walked away from a successful career in sales to follow his dream of being on radio and is now one of Northern Ireland’s leading DJs.
His Q Radio Breakfast Show has quickly become the most talked about radio show in the country and has been described by rival Stephen Nolan as ‘the best stuff going out on radio at the moment’.
