The FunFair: Networking for those interested in the books & writing industry

Development

How do you access support, advice and connections in the world of books and writing? Here’s a (free) networking opportunity to help you build your contacts.

Join us for the annual Belfast Book Festival FunFair.

Resource organisations, journals and funders will be set up in spaces across The Crescent, ready to meet you: come on in and have a chat (and ask the questions you always want to ask at panel discussions!).

On Thursday there’s a range of events and activities to help build industry knowledge/support your career as a writer - see you there!

Participating organisations include; Abridged, Association of Freelance Editors, Proofreaders & Indexer of Ireland (AFEPI Ireland), Banshee Press, BBC Writers, CILIP Ireland, Editors' and Proofreaders' Alliance of Northern Ireland (EPANI), Faerie Press, The Honest Ulsterman, The Human Archive,  The Irish Pages Press, Irish Writers Centre, Irish Writers Union, The Pig’s Back, The Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s, The Society of Authors, Society of Young Publishers Ireland and University of Ulster English Literature Department.

Check the Belfast Book Festival website for the full list of participating organisations and individuals.

A few practical notes:

  • Registration to attend the FunFair is not essential. However, if you do register, we will be able to send you in advance an up to date list of confirmed Organisations/Individuals.
  • It’s informal - the Festival isn’t in a position to pre-arrange meetings or connect you in advance to specific organisations/individuals.
  • If you have childcare responsibilities that mean that attending will be impossible or very challenging, please contact the team at csm@crescentarts.org to see if we can help accommodate your little ones.
