Join Young Adult authors Jo Zebedee, Shirley-Ann McMillan and Sheena Wilkinson for this afternoon event to discuss writing fiction for young adults. From gritty novels to sci-fi epics, these three fantastic authors have it covered!

Shirley-Anne McMillan is an author of contemporary Young Adult fiction. She lives in Co Down with her family where she writes, tutors, and works in the local Integrated school. In 2014 Shirley-Anne won the SCBWI ‘Undiscovered Voices’ competition with an extract from A Good Hiding, which was published in 2016 by Atom. Her latest novel, The Unknowns (Atom, 2017) was described by The Irish Times as ‘a thought-provoking and hopeful read from a writer to watch’. 

Described by The Irish Times as 'one of our foremost writers for young people', Sheena Wilkinson writes contemporary and historical fiction, and has won manyprizes for her work, including a Major Award from the Northern Ireland Arts Council. Her most recent novel, Star By Star, shortlisted for the BGE Irish book Awards and the Children's Books Ireland Awards, was published to commemorate  the centenary of women's suffrage. 

Jo Zebedee is the author of five science fiction and fantasy books, including the cult hit, Inish Carraig, set after an alien invasion of Belfast. An experienced presenter and coach, Jo delivers courses in writing and provides coaching services for writers. She also runs her own consultancy. She finds herself increasingly interested in cloning technology.
