Film Poem Workshop with Helen Dewbery

workshop

If you’re interested in poetry film, or might want to take your first steps towards making your own, come along to this workshop with experienced filmmaker Helen Dewbery.

During this 2-part workshop, you will;

  • Take a brief look at the historical context of poetry film.
  • Look at different styles, genres, and types, as well as who is making them.
  • Identify similarities between film and poetry and what putting these together can offer.
  • Discuss in detail what you need to make a poetry film and the skills required.

Participants will also have the opportunity to make a poetry film on their own phone or tablet. The work will then be screened on the Friday at 1.30pm, in which you can invite your family and friends along to view.

Helen Dewbery has taught poetry film extensively, in person and online. Her work has appeared internationally at poetry and film festivals, where she has also presented talks and curations. She has worked alongside a publisher creating poetry films with their authors and is an Associate member of the Royal Photographic Society.
