For 10 days, the 11th Belfast Book Festival was a platform for a wonderful array of writers, thinkers and storytellers. Running between 10 - 19 June 2022, we welcomed to the Festival some of Northern Ireland's incredible talent who connected with visiting artists via a series of conversations, workshops, residencies and Awards that seeked to connect, amplify and showcase our creative communities.
We were excited to welcome you into our lovely south Belfast home in June. In re-opening our Home over the last year we have been listening to your thoughts about place, about belonging and not-belonging, about cravings for a sense of connection and comfort.
And so for Book Festival 2022 we invited you in to have a read in our pop-up Library; to meet, watch and listen to storytellers; to write your own stories; to get making in our Craft Workshops; to build, borrow or buy your summer reading list.
In 2022;
- We introduced a Pay What you Want Scheme
- Commissioned works and had Artists in Residence; many of the work created for the Festival, including poems and artwork is now on display in The Crescent and you can find out more here.
What an amazing few days you all gave Belfast! It was so proud to be part of it over that first weekend - the building was just buzzing. Everything about those das felt inclusive, exciting, celebratory, provocative, interesting - well done on all of you on all you put in. Bring on 2023...!
